Draft Digipak 2
This is another draft of a digipack this has boarders and also the record labels name printed and even the album name written down the spines of the digipak, this makes the digipak look more realistic. The text used will be part of our brand identity as it is used on the digipak and advert.

Draft Digpak 1
This is a draft of a possible digipak, i decided to use the colour purple as it matches the actors dress and is colourful ie bright and cheery like a pop genre should be. It includes all of the characteristics of a digipak such as barcodes, track list.

Recce Shots 3
This shows Alice filming in the restaurant.
This is a shot of the two characters of our music video.
This is a shot of our main star sat at the table we filmed at.
This shot was taken during filming to show the characters in the middle of acting.
Animatic
This is an animatic of my storyboard. This was produced through the use of Final Cut. This gave a very basic idea of how my music video was going to look from an early stage. After finishing the animatic it was uploaded to Youtube in order to be embedded into my blog.
Photo Shoot Contact Sheet
This is all of the photos from my photoshoot, the circled ones are the ones I believed to be the most successful and would work best in my digipak and advert. Some of the photos turned out really dark and were therefore unusable and some didn't work very well for example they didn't look like professional photos that you would see in an advert for a pop artist.
Draft Advert 2
This was our second attempt at the advert this worked better than the first as it was A4 and it looks more authentic and includes our brand name 'Bright Star'.

Shot Schedule
Shot schedule from alice12345
This shot schedule was created in an early stage and this gave me a rough idea of how the music video would flow and also helped plan for how the filming process would go to keep me on track and progressing forward.

Preliminary Task- Lip Sync
Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe - Lip Sync Task
This is our lip sync task we created at the start of second year. This was to see if we could lip sync and so we knew how to edit a video together on Final Cut Express HD.
Storyboard
This is the storyboard to our music video to show each shot we are going to use. This gave me a very rough indication of how I planned the video to look like. I found after I filmed the video there was well over 65 shots and it didn't actually go to this plan exactly but it did give a rough outline.

Recce Shots
This photograph shows the where the person would stand when acting in the music video with a blank screen behind her.
This is the tv screen which shows the background which has been put behind the person in the music video and it helps that it is facing the person in the video so they can see the position they are in when filming.
These 3 photographs are pictures of the camera used which helps get different shots. It allows you to zoom in and out and move it around.
These are the computers and buttons used to film and edit the backgrounds that will be used. We decided to test it out with this sunset background which is a video playing on loop. This means it would play through the whole song.
Recce Shots 2
This photo shows the screens for the computer which controls the green screen, it also shows how the girl is centred on the screen and the background for this session which we tried.
This is a side view from the left side of the green screen showing how the lighting is very bright and also showing that there is a screen for the actor to see how she is doing.
This photo is from next to the camera to show the different things attached to the camera such as a screen which can be used to show the lyrics to the song.
We decided to film some test footage in the green screen studio. These photographs show the background we tested with when filming.

Digipak Experimentation
My digipack tutorial was light trails and this was effective and relavent to my genre of pop. I found that this effect in photoshop could be used in our final product as this very much fits in with the genre of pop because it had a lot of colour. Through using this technique i have learnt to use the gradient tool and this creates light trails effectively and I learnt to manipulate the color of the light trails. I have also learnt how to use the different layers and how i can make one layer more prominent simply by moving it up the layers to a lower number.

Green Screen Test Footage
This is the test footage we have taken using the green screen. We decided to use this to experiment and see if it would work with a background that we liked. The restaurant we are filming in is mostly brown colours so we decided to use a brown colour background as it wont look too different and odd in the video. The test footage looks ok but we decided that if we are going to use the green screen in our final video then we will change the background to something different to the one we used on here.

Email to Krimo
This was the first email we sent to the owner of the restaurant we wanted to film in. Krimo owns several restaurants in the Hartlepool area and I was aware we may not be aloud to film here because it may be too busy so in the email I tried to sound as formal and polite as I could and get the point across that this was important and i was necessary to get it filmed as quickly as possible.
Inspirational Videos
This was one of our inspirational music videos, this was because this video
These are the music videos we have got inspiration from to create ours. Taylor Swift's tells a story between a boy and a girl which is what ours is going to do. The Saturdays' is filmed in a restaurant so this has gave us some ideas of different shots to use. Katy Perry's Part Of Me tells a story and Jessie J's has helped us think of ideas with the green screen with what to put in the backgrounds.

Audience Profile
The target audience for our song 'If You Can Afford Me' by Katy Perry would be teenagers of both genders. This is because it is a very upbeat song by a popular artist that would be typically aimed at teenagers.
This is Beth, who as you can see is a Katy Perry fan so our music video would definitely be aimed towards her. She is a 17 year old student who listens to mainly pop music. Whilst during college work and revising for exams Beth would have music on in the background. Her favourite pop artist is Katy Perry and she owns every album of hers. When she was at Katy Perry's concert she got chosen to go on stage and dance with Katy as shown on the photograph above.
On a typical day Beth would be seen wearing a dress, shorts, jeans etc. In the first photograph shown on this page she is shown wearing a blouse.
This is a screen shot of Beths Spotify playlist
Record Label
This is our record label we created. We decided to call it Bright Star Records
and the bright shooting star which is going through the name links in with it.
This was created on Photoshop in which we used light trails which fit it nicely
with the name of our label. Light trails are made by changing the gradient.

Initial Ideas
This was our initial ideas note board. We used the online program Lino which was a bit complicated to use at first but when a classmate explained it turned out to be very simple to use. The use of bright colours tied in with our genre of pop music and fit in well with the blog. The way the notes are spaced out so we can read them all without problems made the program a very good choice, it was also a different thing to use rather than just referring back to a simple word document.

Audience Research Questions
Audience research questionnaire from alice12345
This is our audience research questions, at first we attempted to use an online survey maker but in the end there were too many complications and we switched to a word document. This turned out to be the better option as I found this much easier to analyse. Also the people who answered the questionnaire found it easy to complete and navigate.

Lyrics Breakdown
Lyrics if you can afford me from alice12345
For this task we had to listen to the song and find at which time did the lines start and then end this helped greatly when editing as when putting a single line into the video we knew how long the line would last and at which point it would need to be put in.

Opie Task
To make my opie i had to use the magnetic lasso tool to go around all of the features, hair, and actually face. As well as this i had to select colours from my original picture to fill the lasso.
Shot Count Activity
The video I have chosen for my shot count is Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘It’s always a good time’ this fits into the genre of pop which is my groups choice of genre for our own music video. Jepsen is typically a pop artist, most famous for the song ‘Call me maybe’ released in February 2012 reaching the number one spot in over 19 countries. Owl City however can be fitted into the genre of electronic/powerpop, which is similar to pop, with ‘Fireflies’ hitting the pop singles chart in July 2009.
The video ‘Its always a good time’ has approximately 128 camera shots which range from a close up to a tracking shot. For this activity I watched a music video of my choice, which was of the same genre as my coursework, and counted how many times there was a different shot. Stereotypically pop songs will always have close up of the artists this coincides with Goodwin’s theory which states that the industry (pop) all music videos will have ‘Star image’ this is a good way of selling the product to the target audience. The pop genre stereotypically will have very upbeat music, which has thought beats to match; thought beats are where the music matches the edit. In this music video there are lots of thought beats such as in the forest on the night when the music gets very upbeat the edit gets faster and more jumpy just like the dancers.

Request For Permission
This is the tweet we sent to Capitol Records asking for permission to use their song 'If You Can Afford Me'. This was a quick and efficient way of contacting the record label and was a sure way to make our request seen instead of email which could have been overlooked.

Advert Analysis
The advert I have chosen to analyse is for Katy Perry's album 'One Of The Boys' including the hit single 'I Kissed A Girl'. I have chosen this advert because it has the characteristics of the genre of pop featured and also the artist is part of the pop genre. In this advert the artists name is clear and brightly shown at the top right of the advert this is a man focus for people looking at the advert. The bright colours used for the name and the font used reflects the fun aspect of the advert. The style of the font is the trademark for the artist Katy Perry, this shows the artist wants to project a fun and happy image with all of her work. The mise en scene of the advert suggests innocence with the use of the paddling pool with rubber ducks and also the love heart lolly pop which the artist is holding. The artist is shown to be in the centre left half of the screen. The body language of the artist is shown to be slightly mischievous and could suggest she is hiding something by the fact she is holding one hand behind her back. The facial expression of the artist is quite serious and is juxtaposed with the innocence and fun that is being projected by the mise en scene.
The other writing used in the advert is in simple white and plain font which shows that this writing is only for informing the readers and not to entertain like the other font used for the artists name. In a smaller font at the lower right quarter of the advert we can see that there is a web address which is for the Katy Perry official fan page. The inclusion of the web address could be used to traffic people to the stars page to get more exposer.
The mise en scene of the advert is quite idealistic as there is the white picket fence and a paddling pool with the accent of a perfectly neat garden, which is sometimes referred to as 'The American Dream' this is a juxtaposition with the text of the advert as the title of the hit song 'I Kissed A Girl' is the opposite of the idealistic American Dream. The star was brought up in a very Christian environment and taught that homosexuality was an abomination this hit single could be seen as a rebellious act which could be highlighted by the mischievous look shown on the artists face in the advert. The white and plain font used for all of the information could be related to the white picket fence as it is plain and simple and idealistic.
